Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club
Club members meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in various locations. The main focus of the Malta Dirt Daubers is community beautification. We plant 80 oak barrel planters around Malta. We also decorate them with birdhouses in the spring and with scarecrows and pumpkins in the fall. Merchants decorate them for Christmas with prizes given for the best ones. We also decorate a 1928 Studebaker truck that sits on a lot downtown. We maintain the yard of the H.G. Robinson House adjacent to the Phillips County Museum.
Meetings have various programs from educational to crafts to fun events. Recent programs have included growing a shelterbelt, growing raspberries and strawberries, making centerpieces to donate to the Festival of Trees. Upcoming programs are “Edible Flowers”, “Paint ‘n Pour” and “Turning Trash into Treasure”. Our May meeting is a “Plant and Bulb Auction” with plants from our own gardens, along with a pot luck supper and membership drive.
We’re an active group of gardeners — drop in to one of our meetings and hear what we’re doing. You’re sure to find interesting projects to work on and fun people to work with!
