Gallatin Empire Garden Club
Our club is dedicated to helping others learn about gardening and to appreciate the natural resources around us. Meetings are held the the 3rd Tuesday (October through May) from 1-3PM. Currently, we meet at the community room at First Security Bank on S. 19th St. for April and May. Beginning in October of 2022, we will be at the Hyalite /Sourdough Fire Station on S. 3rd. Each meeting features a speaker or demonstration on some aspect of gardening, conservation, landscaping, or floral design. We are a group of fun-loving, energetic gardeners. The public is welcome to attend any meeting and membership is open year round so stop by and get acquainted. If you have any questions, please contact me: Pat Kisner, 240-498-2402, dkisner6@q.com
The club has provided landscape assistance, plant materials, and maintenance in areas of Kirk Park, the Blue Star Memorial Marker, and Gallatin Rest Home. The Gallatin Rest Home Sensory Garden was named “2007 Best Horticultural Therapy Project” in the United States for which our club won an award. Typically there is a September clean up in the garden, and we plant annuals as well as some vegetables in June.
- In early December the members decorate large holiday wreaths and donate these to non-profit organizations in the community. In lieu of a December meeting, we enjoy a holiday luncheon.
Annual dues entitle members to receive Montana Gardens–the publication of the Montana Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
